Who can benefit from Tae Kwon Do?

Men, women and children from 4 to 70 have discovered the benefits of a Midwest Academy program. Students are grouped with others of similar levels of skill and experience. Highly trained instructors provide an ample amount of personal instruction so each individual can develop his or her Tae Kwon Do skills at a pace that is comfortable.

Should A Person Be in Top Physical Condition Before Beginning Tae Kwon Do Class?

No. One of the major benefits to a Midwest Academy Tae Kwon Do Program is a highly structured training program that gradually develops and improves each individual's level of physical conditioning. Although most beginner tae kwon do students are not in top shape when they start their program. Tae Kwon Do's "total body exercise" soon puts them in peak condition. Classes are not overly strenuous or taxing, but are exciting and invigorating!

Do Tae Kwon Do Trained People Become Bullies?

On the contrary, people who are truly confident in their self-defense ability feel no need to demonstrate their physical superiority, and are very unlikely to abuse their skills. Midwest Academy students are taught that their self-defense abilities are a responsibility and they must use them only in self-defense.

Tae Kwon Do For Children

Children come to Midwest Academy of Tae Kwon Do Schools for many reasons. Concerned parents become tired of seeing youngsters being abused and intimidated by schoolyard bullies. Many physicians, teachers, and counselors recommend tae kwon do as a way to help youngsters achieve greater social, physical, mental, and emotional growth.

Children who are physically clumsy, overweight, and awkward or "all arms and legs" develop ability, grace, coordination, and a positive self-image through tae kwon do's physical and mental training. As Tae Kwon Do skill is developed, self-confidence is greatly increased until; finally, the schoolyard bullies look for someone less confident and self-assured to pick on. CONFIDENT CHILDREN ARE NOT VICTIMS! Through self-discipline that Tae Kwon Do students learn, children develop an increase in attention span, and an ability to sit still and learn. As their tae kwon do skills improve, so does their self-image. Children become more willing to try to excel and their fear of failure is diminished. The achievement of various tae kwon do belt colors provides a short-term structure that teaches children to be success oriented.

For many teenaged people, the Midwest Academy School provide a social "club" atmosphere that is a positive, healthy alternative to the sometimes-undesirable peer pressure placed on today's youth.
